[14:22] <ukscone> morning all
[14:22] <IT_Sean> Gooooooood mooorning ukscone!
[14:24] <ukscone> remind me later when i go to the store that i need to pick up ham glaze will ya please
[14:24] <IT_Sean> ukscone: Just a friendly reminder... When you go to the store later, you need to pick up ham glaze.
[14:25] <ukscone> i'm not going to the store yet it's still drizzling
[14:26] <IT_Sean> It's a miserable morning, isn't it?
[14:26] <IT_Sean> And the highway that goes past my office is completly shut, which made my morning commute rather... interesting.
[14:27] <IT_Sean> (that said, i did have a good bit of fun zipping along the local roads around here. Lots of twisty hilly bits.)
[14:29] <ukscone> why was the highway closed? flooding?
[14:29] <IT_Sean> overturned trailer
[14:29] <IT_Sean> stuff spilled everywhere
[14:29] <IT_Sean> ... or so said the radio
[14:29] <IT_Sean> ... ... and the dot matrix signs
[14:31] <ukscone> a lorry carrying wigs overturned. police are combing the area
[14:31] <ukscone> a lorry carrying preserves overturned. police say the area is jammed
[14:31] <IT_Sean> HAHAHA!
[14:32] <IT_Sean> something like that
[14:36] <IT_Sean> either way, the back roads around my office are really fun! :p Be even more fun in the dry.
[14:36] <ukscone> be even more fun in the snow
[14:37] <IT_Sean> I suppose.
[14:37] <IT_Sean> but only if you could be guranteed of no oncoming traffic (narrow roads)
[14:38] <ukscone> just over turn a lorry at both ends
[14:38] <ukscone> a lorry carrying girkins overturned. police are in a bit of a pickle
[14:42] <IT_Sean> i don't know what it was carrying, but, it managed to block the entire roadway, right on the very short bit of that particular highway i need to drive on to get to work.
[14:42] <IT_Sean> backroads & the iPhone Maps app FTW.
[14:47] * IT_Sean is very glad to have a 4 day weekend. He rather needs one right now

[17:51] <traeak> hmm...why are bluetooth peripherals so expensive? too many smarts in the devices ?
[18:07] <Reggie__> because they're seen as voodoo magic
[18:07] <Reggie__> no one realises they've got crappy range and low bandwidth
[18:08] <traeak> except for one thing: it's an open protocol for devices
[18:08] <traeak> cost of bluetooth keyboard vs cost of usb keyboard is astronomically different
[18:09] <traeak> where i'm coming from: ideally we could use the 2 usb ports..one for wireless dongle, another for bootooth dongle
[18:09] <traeak> and no worries about connectors
[18:12] <friggle> I'd have thought bluetooth peripheral cost would be due to the need for power
[18:13] <friggle> traeak: not a major win over using a keyboard with integrated USB hub (still just one port). I don't have any bluetooth devices though
[18:13] <traeak> 2.4ghz wireless kb & mouse
[18:13] <friggle> actually I suppose my netbook has bluetooth
[18:13] <traeak> friggle: me neither...hopefully i'll be fine using an unpowered usb1.1 hub for what i need
[18:15] <friggle> yeah, they have those in the pound shop. Presumably they work fine for a mouse and keyboard
[18:15] <traeak> mouse, keyboard, non rumble joypad
