[4:45] <DaQatz> Only?
[4:46] <Da|Mummy> 3 days left

[4:47] <duckinator> Da|Mummy: my bet's that people wanted #10, and the really low numbers (hence #1 going at 2500 pounds). of course, i'm no psychologist, and i'm heavily medicated atm, so take it as you will... :D
[4:48] * duckinator probably shouldn't be unleashed upon the internet while heavily medicated, but it's too late to think of that

[13:47] <Qasaur> Anyone know when this is getting released? :3
[13:47] <Qasaur> I wanted to buy like 10 of them and link them to a supercomputer in my backpack
[13:47] <Qasaur> I mean, they are so small
[13:47] <Qasaur> and so cheap
[13:49] <victhor> I question the practical utility of this (besides learning how to operate a large cluster), won't a laptop be more powerful?
[13:50] <haltdef> late this month or early next month I hear
[13:50] <haltdef> or you can bid on a beta board .. a laptop certainly will be more powerful then :P
[14:04] <chris_99> a laptop would definitely be more powerful imo
[14:06] <victhor> the new sandy bridge intel core processors have OpenCL support for the integrated graphics, and AMD's "fusion" processors have it too
[14:06] <victhor> so you have more than just the CPU to use.

[15:16] <ksx4system> Qasaur: well, there was a discussion about filling 42U rack cabinet with custom 1U cases and ~300 of boards :D
[15:16] <ksx4system> an epic, ultra low power cluster
[15:17] <chris_99> 100Mbps is a bit slow though
[15:17] <chris_99> for a cluster
[15:18] <ksx4system> chris_99: well, it is
[15:18] <ksx4system> but raspberry pi isn't power monster ;)
[15:18] <ksx4system> there's no need for 40gbit fiber
[15:18] <ksx4system> few 100mbit switches with 1gbit uplink and you're ready to go
[15:19] <ksx4system> and a good router, probably x86 based one with MikroTik software and Intel nics
[15:19] <victhor> lagtastic. Even more so with the USB ethernet of the pi.
[15:20] <ksx4system> victhor: wasn't there a version with nic onboard?
[15:20] <victhor> it is attached via USB, AFAIK.
[15:20] <ksx4system> blargh
[15:20] <ksx4system> so 10mbit bullshit
[15:20] <chris_99> oh i didn't realise it was a USB ethernet
[15:20] <ksx4system> well, more expensive version was going to have nic onboard :( at least afair
[15:21] <haltdef> what's 10mbit bullshit?
[15:21] <ksx4system> haltdef: 10BASE-T ethernet
[15:21] <ksx4system> cheap USB ethernet cards can't run 100BASE-T :(
[15:22] <ksx4system> at least these from my supplier
[15:22] <haltdef> I have a gigabit usb2 adapter somewhere
[15:22] <chris_99> usb2 only hits 480Mbps haltdef
[15:22] <victhor> the pi uses a LAN9512
[15:22] <haltdef> saturates usb2 before it saturates gig ethernet of course
[15:22] <ksx4system> haltdef: ...which probably costs 10-20 times more than my 10mbit nics
[15:22] <haltdef> mm
[15:22] <victhor> 100 Mbps ethernet and 2 port USB hub
[15:24] <victhor> http://www.smsc.com/index.php?tid=300&pid=135&cid=&tab=1
[15:27] <xlq> #1 at ??3,300 :O
[15:28] <haltdef> holy balls
[15:28] <victhor> let's see if the bidder will withdraw it at the last minute like they did on #10
[15:29] <ksx4system> xlq: WTF LOL OMG INSANE
[15:29] <ksx4system> some people shouldn't do drugs, at least when they set the pricing...

[16:38] <IT_Sean> that's a nice pile of cash for the .org
[16:38] <Faperdaper> yeah indeed
[16:42] <WASDx> i gussed ??5000 a week ago
[16:42] <WASDx> after my previous ??500 guess got crushed

[16:51] * IT_Sean goes back to fiddling w/ his linux machine
[16:51] <mdavey> WASDx: yea I guessed 5000 for #1 and #10 - got that wrong!
[16:51] <WASDx> i really have no idea, have been surprised too much already so I can just say pure guesses
[16:54] <mdavey> yea, surprised that #9 went for so little, too. But others are surprised that any got over ??150. Its so hard to judge how many collectors and museums there are out there that want a little piece of history, plus those that just want to gift to the charity and see it succeed.

[18:20] <wwalker> Thorn_: thanks, that will narrow my search results.
[18:21] <Thorn_> shift had a tutorial, maybe i can find the link again
[18:21] <WASDx> can Qemu be used as wine on an x86(_64) machine?
[18:21] <WASDx> don't really know what it is, just heard about it a lot
[18:21] <Thorn_> what do you mean?
[18:22] <WASDx> i'm not sure :P
[18:22] <Thorn_> wwalker: http://raspi.springnote.com/pages/8234994 tutorial goes through all steps

[18:24] <FunkyELF> http://boingboing.net/2012/01/04/retrode-a-usb-game-cartridge.html

[22:02] <WASDx> I think it
[22:02] <WASDx> It's great from a programmers point of view

[22:02] <WASDx> c++, open source, all platforms
[22:02] <WASDx> can't ask for more
[22:02] <IT_Sean> awesome
[22:02] <IT_Sean> That's good, becuase, my linux machine was a top of the line powerhouse ten years ago.

[22:04] <WASDx> i see
[22:04] <IT_Sean> Got it in 2003.
[22:04] <WASDx> my laptop with integrated graphics actually can't play it at max fps, even though the cpu usage is bellow half
