[0:06] <ebswift> hey, anyone got a link on daisy chaining the MCP23017? i've just got the chips, no expansion boards
[0:07] <gordonDrogon> ebswift, you just connect the 2 I2C wires from one to the next.
[0:08] <gordonDrogon> ebswift, but you have to set the 3 address pins to be different for each one.
[0:08] * _BigWings_ (~Thunderbi@modemcable237.145-19-135.mc.videotron.ca) has joined #raspberrypi
[0:08] * DrMax (~Dr@unaffiliated/drmax) has joined #raspberrypi
[0:08] <plugwash> connect the SDA and SCL pins in paralell and set the address differently on each chip
[0:08] <ebswift> thx gordonDrogon, i haven't done i2c before so it's a bit new to me
[0:09] <ebswift> lots of examples on connecting one MCP23017
[0:10] <gordonDrogon> yes, just extend the same 2 wires to the next.
[0:10] <gordonDrogon> the important bit is the 3 address inputs. wire all 3 to 0v on the first one, then 2 to 0v and one to +3.3v on the 2nd.
[0:10] <gordonDrogon> they form the bottom 3 bits of the I2C address - 0x20 is the base, then add on those 3 bits, so it will be from 0x20 to 0x27.
[0:11] <ebswift> also, use a separate power supply (or shared power from the main raspi power input)?
[0:11] <gordonDrogon> use gpio i2cd to see them.
[0:12] * MichaelC is now known as MichaelC|Sleep
[0:12] <gordonDrogon> you can power them off the Pi's 3.3v (or 5v) supply, but if you're loading the output pins then a separate power supply may be advisable.

[2:30] <dewm> hi raspberrypilover
[2:30] <dewm> I'm good, how about yourself?
[2:30] <dewm> I'm both good and well
[2:30] <raspberrypilover> yeah. sleepless right now in London. What you doing with your RPi?
[2:31] <dewm> are you from London?
[2:31] <dewm> it must be Saturday for you right now
[2:31] <dewm> right now I'm not doing anything with my RPi
[2:32] <dewm> which is a shame I know
[2:32] <dewm> I just started a new job so I've been busy with that instead of playing around with the RPi
[2:33] * _BigWings_ (~Thunderbi@modemcable237.145-19-135.mc.videotron.ca) has joined #raspberrypi
[2:33] <raspberrypilover> dewm: what do you usually do with the RPi, and where in the world are you?
[2:34] <raspberrypilover> dewm: I'm trying to get my RPi to be a web server, mail server, perhaps a VPN server, NAS server, and got another to be a Python coding workstation
[2:34] <dewm> all I've done thus far is set up the OS with NOOB (lol)
[2:34] <dewm> I'm from Pennsylvania in the U.S. if that means anything to you
[2:35] <dewm> I think having it as a python coding station is a good idea
[2:35] <raspberrypilover> hey! that's cool. We've all got to start somewhere. Baby steps... Are you new to Linux? Yeah, I know PA
[2:35] <dewm> and in general having a low-cost server is good as well
[2:35] <dewm> yep, I'm completely new to Linux
[2:36] <dewm> I have a mac so I'm seeing some parallels between apple os & linux
[2:36] <raspberrypilover> I've been using a Mac since I was mature student a few years ago. I've used DOS, then from 1995 Windows since about 1990... I needed to explore the world of the forward slash instead of the Microsoft backslash!!
[2:36] <raspberrypilover> What version of Parallels do you use?
[2:37] <raspberrypilover> Are you an undergraduate student?
[2:37] <dewm> wait it's not a "version" of parallel that I'm referring to :P
[2:37] <dewm> I meant that I see the parallels between the two OS'
[2:38] <dewm> as in similarities
[2:38] * andrei_chiffa (~andrei_ch@99-174-255-20.lightspeed.sndgca.sbcglobal.net) Quit (Ping timeout: 246 seconds)
[2:38] <raspberrypilover> sorry - bit sleepy. Misread what you said. Duh!
[2:38] <dewm> nope, I'm not an undergrad student - are you?
[2:38] <raspberrypilover> Yeah - they're both *nix aren't they?
[2:38] <raspberrypilover> which do you prefer - Windows or *nix?
[2:39] <dewm> it's hard to say, I don't have a strong opinion for/against either
[2:40] * sparqz (~sparqz@c-67-188-219-15.hsd1.ca.comcast.net) has joined #raspberrypi
[2:40] <dewm> I think if I based my judgement off of the volumes of crashing & bugs I'd go with *nix
[2:41] <dewm> as windows has crashed way too many times for me

[2:41] <dewm> what about you, raspberrypilover
[2:41] <dewm> are you an undergrad?
[2:41] <raspberrypilover> yeah - it's a bad pun but Windows breaks easily
[2:42] <raspberrypilover> no, I've been a student for most of my life. Dropped out of University of London a couple of years ago... been on welfare since... welfare has been cut now... need to get a job quickly... London is expensive!!!
[2:42] <raspberrypilover> what coding do you do?
[2:43] <dewm> what did you study as a student?
[2:43] <raspberrypilover> what languages are you familiar with? high-level languages, that is
[2:44] <raspberrypilover> when I left home it was politics, then later I did a-la-carte study where I 'tasted' very, very, very basic philosophy, then more a-la-carte learning with Java, then Computing and Information Systems but dropped out
[2:44] <raspberrypilover> you?
[2:44] <dewm> hm I'm not sure what to say to that, were you forced to drop out from forces beyond your control?
[2:45] <dewm> hm what coding do I do… well I'm learning sql and R (data analysis prog.)
[2:45] <raspberrypilover> :) why do you know what to say? :) I've got bad mental health problems that I've battled with all my life

[2:45] <raspberrypilover> is R a special university thing, or an industry thing? or both?????
[2:46] <raspberrypilover> what time is it with you?
[2:46] <dewm> R is freeware, just search "R cran" and you'll be able to download it
[2:46] * wharfrat (~wharfrat@unaffiliated/dedhed) Quit (Quit: leaving)

[2:47] * odin_ (~Odin@2a01:348:261:32:b4db:256:43f9:2e84) has joined #raspberrypi
[2:47] <dewm> I've been liking how simple sql is to understand
[2:47] <dewm> that's something I'm new to and yet it's very practical
[2:48] <raspberrypilover> yeah I've got some projects in mind that MySQL seems good for
[2:48] <OU751D3R> SQL is great
[2:48] <dewm> I was recently hired by a non-profit and it turns out the org. has a project where SQL will come in handy
[2:49] <dewm> and having no prior experience with sql I figured it would be a great way to learn the language by immersing myself with this project
[2:49] <plugwash> sql is ok, biggest issue is when you want to move beyond very basic stuff you start running into differences between databases :(
[2:49] <raspberrypilover> cool - do you enjoy working for non-profit?
[2:49] <plugwash> so it's often a lot of work to make code portable
[2:50] <dewm> yeah, I love working at the non-profit so far
[2:50] <dewm> but who doesn't love work his/her first week?
[2:50] <raspberrypilover> I had some problems using MySQL databases when installing multiple Wordpress databases on a RPi LAMP stack
[2:51] <raspberrypilover> oh OK. At least you've got a job. Working for mega corporations profit motives and balance sheets does dishearten me
[2:52] <dewm> how old are you raspberrypilover ?
[2:52] <raspberrypilover> between 30 and 40. too shy to say in such an open forum. you? well nearish to the exact age????
[2:54] <Tykling> o.0
[2:54] <dewm> it's funny how the large organizations -- which I would presume to be for-profit -- are usually the ones with big databases and enough money to hire data scientists to further drive their profits
[2:54] <dewm> whereas the non-profits are the ones who need data scientists/analysts but don't have the budgets for them
[2:55] <dewm> I'm between 23 & 25
[2:56] <raspberrypilover> certainly data mining / big data is mega big business today. I remember when loyalty cards came out in the early 1990s and I was telling people what a threat to civil liberties they were likely to become....

[3:04] <Ben64> is there a way to make scratch faster / less crashy?
[3:04] <Ben64> or speed up gui in general
[3:05] <raspberrypilover> ben64: what RPi model do you have?
[3:05] <Ben64> the first one
[3:06] <shiftplusone> confusing answer
[3:06] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: have you tried upgrading the firmware?
[3:06] <raspberrypilover> is that 256MB RAM or 512MB RAM?
[3:06] <Ben64> shiftplusone: the one that came out february 29th 2012
[3:06] <Ben64> 256
[3:07] <shiftplusone> Model B rev 1 then
[3:07] <Ben64> yeah, the first one that came out
[3:07] <raspberrypilover> ok. Because I was shocked to discover that when the 512MB model was release, unless you upgraded the firmware you could only access a small proportion of that 512MB!
[3:07] <dewm> okay back
[3:08] <raspberrypilover> dewm: hey
[3:08] <Ben64> and i haven't upgraded the firmware in the past week, but i have done it recently
[3:08] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: yeah - so long as you've done since you've had it.
[3:08] * chandoo (~chandoo@ool-44c4d8d3.dyn.optonline.net) Quit (Quit: Leaving)
[3:09] <Ben64> i mean i guess x still doesn't have acceleration, but everything in scratch is so slow
[3:09] <Ben64> and sound doesn't seem to work over HDMI with it
[3:09] <Ben64> i'm working on getting a bunch of them for a local library, but if it doesn't work well, it wouldn't be worth it
[3:09] * AndrevS (~andrevs@2001:980:55e0:1:225:b3ff:fec0:41e1) Quit (Quit: Leaving)
[3:10] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: no sound is interesting. I've never used Scratch. Does it have settings within the program to manage audio - or are you saying it might be a Rapsbian or hardware issue?
[3:10] <dewm> raspberrypilover: I didn't ask you before but I'll ask you now - what high-level learning languages do you know?
[3:11] <Ben64> raspberrypilover: no settings. I'm guessing sound is coming out of the headphone jack, but I haven't tested that theory
[3:11] <raspberrypilover> dewm: the first language I learnt was Pascal, then I did my pre-university exam computing project in C, learn Java in 2006, now Python with the RPi...
[3:11] <Ben64> i never have used the gui on it before, is there a thing there to set hdmi out?
[3:11] <Ben64> i normally just use the pi command line only with my bluetooth keyboard
[3:11] <Ben64> but kids at a library won't like that
[3:12] <dewm> gotcha
[3:13] <raspberrypilover> if you are connected to the screen via HDMI the audio should flow automatically... have you tested the HDMI connectivity with another program, to eliminate hardware fault? otherwise I know if you search the RPi forums - http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/ - there are details of settings in config files you can edit with nano
[3:14] * MadeAllUp (~Gen-M@cpc4-haye19-2-0-cust443.17-4.cable.virginmedia.com) Quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
[3:14] <Ben64> well i can play stuff with omxplayer and everything works perfectly
[3:14] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: I used a DVI connection with a HDMi to DVI adapter cable - so no sound - and ended up editing some config files. Didn't help me as my speakers were knackered... but still might help you.
[3:14] <Ben64> 1080p with 5.1 sound works great :D
[3:15] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: works perfectly through HDMI to display speakers?
[3:15] <Ben64> through a receiver
[3:15] <Ben64> but yeah
[3:15] <raspberrypilover> Oh OK. Probably not hardware or OS issue. What did Google say when you consulted it?
[3:16] * djshotglass (djshotglas@2600:3c01::f03c:91ff:feae:3d2b) has joined #raspberrypi
[3:17] <Ben64> ... i haven't asked google yet
[3:17] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: are you a teacher?
[3:18] <Ben64> no, just a computer tech
[3:18] * wharfrat (~wharfrat@unaffiliated/dedhed) has joined #raspberrypi
[3:19] <knob> raspberrypilover, thanks!
[3:19] <raspberrypilover> I love the RPi for giving youngsters a cheap way to cut their teeth coding. Such a good skill - to express their minds through algorithmic implementation.
[3:19] <wharfrat> heck yeah
[3:19] <raspberrypilover> knob: what for?
[3:20] <Ben64> raspberrypilover: what do you suggest then for kids, if you haven't done scratch
[3:20] <raspberrypilover> what age are they?
[3:20] <Ben64> probably a large range
[3:20] <Ben64> 12-17 maybe
[3:21] * Turingi (~devon@unaffiliated/devon-hillard/x-7250961) Quit (Quit: Leaving)
[3:21] <knob> I read just now your answer to my question. You answered to go to the RPi hub @ eLinux.org =)
[3:22] <djshotglass> best os for my Model B CN Ver. 700MHz 512MB ARM11 ?
[3:23] <raspberrypilover> I just meant that instead of allowing youth to watch Pop Idol, X Factor, etc dreaming of being a pointless celebrity - like they seem to do in the UK and USA - for £30 and a few bits of kit they can sit and learn coding skills. May be make some positive relationships that nuture genunie collaboration skills instead of stuff like 'falling backwards into someone's arms', and pave the way to customise the tech that will
[3:23] <shiftplusone> djshotglass, whichever you prefer
[3:23] * ShorTie (~idiot@unaffiliated/shortie) has joined #raspberrypi
[3:23] <djshotglass> i prefer the most stable
[3:23] <shiftplusone> djshotglass, raspbian
[3:23] <djshotglass> is there an offical one?
[3:24] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: the thing is this - their enthusiasm... and their previous skills.
[3:24] <shiftplusone> raspbian is as 'official' as it gets.
[3:24] <djshotglass> cheers
[3:24] <raspberrypilover> Ben64: plus how inspiring the teacher is. but that is a different strokes for different folks kinda thing for kids, I suppose
[3:24] <shiftplusone> djshotglass, the base distro itself is done by a few folks from the channel and the forum, but the foundation rolls their own image with some custom tweaks and preinstalled things.
[3:26] <djshotglass> bare basics is what i would like
[3:26] <shiftplusone> djshotglass, there's a minimal image you can use, let me dig that up.
[3:26] * NucWin (~nucwin@unaffiliated/nucwin) Quit (Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
[3:26] <djshotglass> hmm the newest is the arch os
[3:27] <djshotglass> if its the one most often updated ill use that
[3:27] <shiftplusone> Arch is what I use.
[3:27] <raspberrypilover> djshotglass: have you tried the new Android distro for the Pi?
[3:27] <shiftplusone> ew
[3:27] <shiftplusone> djshotglass, http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=42667
[3:27] <djshotglass> lol android
[3:28] <raspberrypilover> for that matter - has anyone tried the new Android distro for the Pi?
[3:28] * NucWin (~nucwin@unaffiliated/nucwin) has joined #raspberrypi
[3:28] <raspberrypilover> djshotglass: not an Android fan?
[3:28] <Ben64> is it like android 1.0
[3:28] <djshotglass> shiftplusone cheers
[3:29] <djshotglass> raspberrypilover not for my dev board
[3:29] <djshotglass> why limit yourself?
[3:29] <shiftplusone> ^ +1
[3:29] <raspberrypilover> I don't know - I'm really short of cash so can't buy new SD cards, etc to experiment, but was curious to hear the experiences of others.

[3:29] * ShorTie (~idiot@unaffiliated/shortie) Quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
[3:30] <raspberrypilover> I sometimes use XBMC on the RPi so am interested in media apps. Netflix and another service here in UK don't have addons for XBMC
[3:31] <raspberrypilover> they do for Android... wondered if they worked?
[3:31] <djshotglass> if you are using the rpi for a media center then android might be the easiest
[3:32] * S0-2 (~sgra@gateway/tor-sasl/sgra) Quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
[3:32] <shiftplusone> android is not an option if you want to 'use' the rpi.
[3:32] <djshotglass> i dont understand buying a dev board for a media center but
[3:32] <shiftplusone> even for media
[3:32] <shiftplusone> openelec, xbian, raspbmc are what you want for media
[3:33] <shiftplusone> there's no real hardware acceleration for android yet, so you it's nowhere near usable.
[3:33] <raspberrypilover> djshotglass: well XBMC is pretty good. I'd never used it before the RPi came into my life. but still - no Netflix and Lovefilm means it is not complete
[3:34] <djshotglass> i tried XBMC once and didnt care for it at all

[3:35] <raspberrypilover> what's moov atom?
[3:35] <djshotglass> the movie index so you can seek

[4:14] <knob> I do have a .img file on the directory OUTSIDE in the NOOBS extracted file, yet that one's name is recovery.img
[4:15] <knob> Which one should I drop into the SD card in order to use Raspbian?
[4:16] <ShorTie> what is noobs distribution ??
[4:17] <knob> A file I got from....

[4:22] <shiftplusone> knob, if you have noobs, why do you want to 'drop the img onto the sd card'? That's not how noobs works.
[4:22] <knob> shiftplusone, I realized that just 15 seconds ago!!
[4:22] <knob> I thought I had to download, then drop the img
[4:22] <knob> now I see it's just unzip everything into the SD card

[5:06] <knob> what other board do you suggest?
[5:06] <maxinux> beaglebone is overpowered compared to rpi but software support sucks.. then there are the even cooler things after that with less support

[5:06] <knob> I have an Odroid X2, which has a Arm A9 quad-core... yet I'm using that for video encoding using ffmpeg

[5:12] <knob> And at work, I'm going to see if I can setup a "dashboard" on an LCD so all the sales guys can see the numbers + performance.
[5:12] <Datalink-M> My friend uses that, I need to look into a copy
[5:13] <knob> Although I don't want them to be "competing" with each other... would rather have them "team working"
[5:13] <knob> the XBMC?
[5:13] <Datalink-M> Yeah
[5:13] <knob> Nice nice
[5:13] <Datalink-M> He has a big HD plugged in

[5:18] <knob> There's ... hmm... in Android there's "Kingsoft Office"
[5:18] <knob> Or maybe you can create it as a PDF? Or a set of images?
[5:18] <knob> Just wondering outloud
[5:19] <Datalink-M> LibreOffice is an office suite
[5:19] <Datalink-M> Fork of OpenOffice I think
[5:20] <Datalink-M> Could be wrong
[5:20] <knob> I asked recently, and I think OpenOffice is still going, yet it's a mini-mess because of Oracle.
[5:20] <Datalink-M> Which is why LibreOffice forked
[5:21] <knob> LibreOffice is (as you say,) a fork, yet is the one currently being "actively developed"
[5:21] <knob> I could be talking crap though
[5:21] <knob> ah
[5:21] <knob> =)
[5:21] <Datalink-M> I could be wrong, but it is also lighter

[5:24] <knob> Man, I think on an rPi it'll be... insanely slow. I was thinking just that today. At work, I have a windows8 machine, quad-core, 16gb ram... and all the LibreOffice programs take quite a while to load.
[5:24] * nils_2_ is now known as nils_2
[5:25] <wharfrat> yeah
[5:25] <knob> I use them because... well, free stuff (although I have Office2013/2010/2007)... yet... slow
[5:25] <wharfrat> it is all I use on my personal computers, got ms office at work though
[5:26] <wharfrat> probably other good ways to get a slide show going on a pi though
[5:27] <knob> I like them pretty much. The new MS Office ribbon is nice... yet, all these years of Alt + menus... well, I can navigate the LibreOffice better
[5:27] <Datalink-M> I'm gonna be stripping the Pi's OS to Libre, X and bare metal OS parts, no daemons the kernel doesn't specifically need to show slides

[5:29] <Scriven> not that I think it'll be fast on an rpi, mind.
[5:29] <Datalink-M> You'd need to emulate X86 hardware
[5:29] <knob> Scriven, oh yeah. Just thinking out loud. =)
[5:29] <Datalink-M> My Pi's actually configured to emulate x86 stuff partially, still need to finish that and Wine

[9:07] <mukti> It's a 5V 1.0A power supply average usb cable (also from monoprice)
[9:07] <mukti> I'll see if I can get an old phone charger that might be better
[9:08] <ebswift> well, the supply doesn't matter, it's all about the cable going to the raspi
[9:08] <mukti> Could the length of the cable cause an issue?
[9:08] <mukti> Its a 6' cable
[9:08] <ebswift> as long as the supply is around .75A
[9:08] <ebswift> length shouldn't matter, i had low power on about 4 tested cables
[9:08] <mukti> okay
[9:09] <mukti> Let me go grab a few others to try out
[9:09] <ebswift> but testing tp1 and tp2 will tell all

[9:10] <ebswift> all credit to bircoe http://bircoe.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/raspberry-pi-power-barrel-jack-mod.html
[9:11] <ebswift> if you have a multimeter, do a power check using the tp1 and tp2 spots on the top of the board
[9:11] <ebswift> they're labelled that
[9:11] <mukti> Ah, I don't have one on me. I have access to one, but its 3am, and I'm not going to walk outside to get it haha.
[9:12] * imark (~mark@client-86-25-177-60.bkl-bng-011.adsl.virginmedia.net) has joined #raspberrypi
[9:12] <ebswift> hah, well you know now anyway
[9:12] <ebswift> my wifi worked but would drop after about 5 minutes... i tried all kinds of crazy stuff in software for a couple of months until i learned about that, now my wifi just goes and goes
[9:13] <gtroy> my pi is doa
[9:13] <gtroy> tried the newest raspbian as it's a hynix
[9:13] <gtroy> no go
[9:13] <gtroy> no post
[9:13] <ebswift> got other raspi's that do work?
[9:13] <gtroy> not yet
[9:13] <gtroy> is my first
[9:14] * ka6sox is now known as ka6sox-away
[9:14] <ebswift> any lights?
[9:14] <gtroy> just red
[9:15] <ebswift> maybe something with the card?
[9:15] <gtroy> tried multipil
[9:15] <gtroy> multiple
[9:15] <ebswift> well, as per above, power issues?
[9:15] <nerdboy> anything on the display?
[9:15] <gtroy> no display
[9:15] <gtroy> no signal
[9:15] <mukti> ah ha! Tried two other combinations: Nexus 7 powersuppy and cable, GS4 powersupply and cable. the GS4 ps and cable worked
[9:16] <gtroy> tried multiple micro usb adapters
[9:16] <nerdboy> had a red light a minute ago on a card with a funky write
[9:16] <ebswift> sweet mukti
[9:16] <nerdboy> stuck at the pi graphic
[9:16] * dangerousdave (~dangerous@host-78-147-15-172.as13285.net) Quit (Ping timeout: 268 seconds)
[9:16] <ParkerR> mukti, Nexus 7 power supply should defintiely work
[9:16] <nerdboy> rewrote the image and now it works fine
[9:17] <ebswift> i found if i tried an overclock, even mild, the card image wouldn't last long
[9:17] <ebswift> but that's just me
[9:17] <ebswift> i just finished a full config and started installing django... out of space on the 2GB card :/
[9:18] <mukti> ParkerR: for some reason, it didn't work
[9:19] <ebswift> gotta wait 'till tomorrow to get a 4GB from the shop
[9:19] <mukti> It looks like it is just the cable that makes it work. Its working now, and I'm using my GS4 cable with the monoprice powersupply
[9:19] <ebswift> yeah, cable loss is horendous with most generic cables
[9:20] <ebswift> 2A @ 5v down to 4.6v
[9:21] <mukti> Now I have to go rummaging through my bins to see if I have any decent ones that work; can't use my phone cable forever
[9:21] <mukti> well... I could, but I prefer not to :)
[9:22] <ebswift> barrel mod is the other option, which i opted for on three pi's so far
[9:22] <mukti> If I can't find one tonight, barrel mod it is
[9:23] <ebswift> i suspect there are very few generic cables that are up to it

[20:06] <ArxPoetica> but we're headed into an area that doesn't have broadband, and need to demo something w/ broadband "like" capabilities on a "tiny server" — raspberry pi sounded perfect to me
[20:07] <ArxPoetica> because you can DIY

[22:11] <ant_thomas> Can you not get to media through that?
[22:11] <TopGear> Yes, I can easliy, but I can't see the size of my external drive - and that's the point.

[22:21] <TopGear> JakeSays: Raspbian?
[22:21] <JakeSays> TopGear: yes

[22:29] <TopGear> JakeSays: You're welcome. You don't happen to know how to see the size of an external USB drive connected to the RPi via samba? I mounted /media/External/ and /dev/sda1/ on my laptop, but df only shows the / (the SD-card), not the size of my 2TB HDD.
[22:30] <mukti> cant you do df -ha /media/External?

[22:31] <TopGear> Via ssh or also mounted in another system?
[22:31] <JakeSays> ssh.
[22:31] <TopGear> mukti: On my RPi via SSH - yes. Via my laptop (where I want to put it in conky), no.
[22:31] <ShorTie> pydf is a nice upgrade to df
[22:32] <JakeSays> so i deleted /usr/bin/qdbus* and i still get that error
