[19:09] * RaspberryPiBot (~PircBot@unaffiliated/datagutt/bot/databot) has joined #raspberrypi
[19:09] * Topic is 'Unofficial RaspberryPi IRC channel but "Blessed" by the Foundation as the ONE channel. Logs @ http://srv.datagutt1.com <> Channel Rules: http://tiny.cc/h7za1w <> Getting help on IRC: http://tiny.cc/p9za1w <>'
[19:09] * Set by ShiftPlusOne!~Shift@unaffiliated/shiftplusone on Sun Aug 04 19:59:52 CEST 2013
[19:09] <ShorTie> it's shutdown maybe ??
[19:10] <IT_Sean> The raspi doesn't "sleep". Once you halt the OS, you need to retart the Pi by removing and then reapplying power.
[19:11] <Targan> what about the software
[19:11] * lazy_prince (~killer_pr@122.167.5.171) has joined #raspberrypi
[19:12] <Targan> when i close the xbmc its start op agin
[19:12] <Targan> :S
[19:12] * lazy_prince is now known as killer_prince
[19:12] <MProg> or with a button on P6
[19:12] <Targan> its dossent give any sense
[19:12] <Targan> sorry i am newt to this
[19:12] <Megaf> MProg: good to know that
[19:12] <Megaf> MProg: so after a complete halt, I can start my Pi again with a button on P6?
[19:13] <MProg> yep
[19:13] <MProg> http://elinux.org/RPi_Low-level_peripherals#P6_header
[19:13] <IT_Sean> P6 is the reset header, innit?
[19:13] <MProg> yep
[19:13] <MProg> and "which can also 'wake' the Pi from halt/shutdown state"
[19:14] <Megaf> Thats really cool
[19:14] <Megaf> MProg: And is there a way to send a ACPI shutdown like thing to RPi?
[19:14] <Megaf> I'd GPIO and some software
[19:14] <Megaf> I'd guess
[19:15] * moribund112 (~moribund1@cpe-66-91-231-168.hawaii.res.rr.com) Quit (Quit: OS X ALL UP IN IT.)
[19:16] <MProg> you could call "shutdown" when you press a button connected to a GPIO pin
[19:16] <MProg> if that's what you want
[19:17] <MProg> I have one for halt and one for reboot ;)
[19:18] <Megaf> MProg: my Pi is Rev 1
[19:18] <Megaf> theres no P6
[19:18] <MProg> erf :/
[19:19] <lunaphyte_> i'm trying to set up the root filesystem on lvm, and having some trouble. i was able to do this using the arch image, but i'd prefer to use raspbian. it says "unable to find lvm volume" when booting. how can i begin troubleshooting this further?
[19:19] <Megaf> So I guess I'd need to use another circuit just to wake up my Pi
[19:19] <MProg> you could put a switch on the usb power cable going to the pi
[19:20] * mpmc[BNC4FREE] is now known as mpmc
[19:20] * utack (~utack@mnch-5d8665fb.pool.mediaWays.net) Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[19:22] <MProg> lunaphyte_, maybe leftovers from doing it in with arch
[19:22] * intothev01d (~intothev0@unaffiliated/intothev01d) Quit ()
[19:22] <MProg> oops
[19:22] <MProg> "in" or "with"
[19:22] <MProg> :p
[19:22] <lunaphyte_> that's been my reference so far, but i've mostly reached the end of my experience
[19:23] <lunaphyte_> i've built and am using an initrd, but i'm not quite certain it has proper support for lvm. how can i check that?
[19:24] <MProg> dunno sorry
[19:24] <MProg> I've never used LVM
[19:25] <MProg> but I've seen people struggle to completely remove all the LVM stuff
