[4:39] <DataTracer> Question for those a bit more experienced than myself... I'm looking to make an "earthquake detector" using a ball of tin foil hanging from a wire connected to positive. Below that is a circle of wire connected to ground. When there is motion, the ball sways and makes contact with the circle below. I've been reading and I think I need a 10k ohm resistor for the low state, and a 1k ohm resistor for the high state. Would that
[4:41] <Froolap> ???
[4:41] <DataTracer> My plan is... once I get the "switch" working, I can use python to read the touches and email me when an earthquake occurs

[5:43] <tawr> just in case it's not ext4 for what ever reason but it's really looking like it's trashed. we may be able to fix it though, let's try to get some more info, as in, see if it can be mounted before we mess with the fs
[5:43] <[Saint]> History paints a rich tapestry of usage for both.
[5:44] <Trid> If we have to completely format it, I'd be cool with it, as I still have a retropie ISO lying around.
[5:44] <tawr> also why does it say uid=1000, when it should be uid=tyler in dmesg? Trid

[13:46] <poolson> well shit dude
[13:46] <poolson> all kinds of weird shit happens
[13:46] <poolson> probably due to the library i used
[13:46] <poolson> like i set them up on different ce and csn
[13:46] <poolson> but invoking one affects the other
[13:46] <poolson> its weird
[13:47] <poolson> e.g. i have one for listening and one for sending
[13:47] <poolson> but i think theres some key behavioral things going on
[13:47] <poolson> no problem
[13:47] <poolson> i went back to Plan A
[13:47] <poolson> and revised that
[13:49] <Armand> poolson: Cut the language, please.
[13:49] <poolson> weird shit was going on tho ... i would send from one .. and the pipe addresses on the other one would change to that of the sending module
[13:49] <poolson> youre not a fan of english dude ?
[13:49] <Armand> poolson: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Z8B_0WVSFobWv-ZxpupAJ43Bz7QWpAxbefDJ2tD5MTI/edit

[13:53] <poolson> i was here the other day discussing different modules

[22:39] <DataTracer> Question for you guys... I'm planning to build a very simple "earthquake detector" using a wadded up ball of aluminum foil suspended from a wire connected to positive and rests between a circle of wire connected to ground. When there is motion, the foil will make contact with the circle and close the circuit. My question is, what resistors might I need to make this work on the GPIO as an input/switch?
[22:41] <ecogiko> It's not the ethernet cable, I am currently working on it.
[22:41] <Encrypt> DataTracer, 3.3V input + a pull-down resistor
[22:42] <ShorTie> it be a current limiting resistor
[22:42] <DataTracer> From what I've been reading, a normal switch you would buy in the electronics store would need a 1k ohm and a 10k ohm to get the high and low states, but with my DIY ball of aluminum, would that also work?
