[16:24] * RaspberryPiBot (~raspberry@unaffiliated/datagutt/bot/databot) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:24] * Topic is 'Unofficial RaspberryPi IRC channel but "Blessed" by the Foundation as the ONE channel. | Logs: http://srv.datagutt1.com | Rules: https://goo.gl/h5qPhz'
[16:24] * Set by IT_Sean!~sean@applefritter/IRCStaff on Tue Sep 29 16:49:00 CEST 2015
[16:24] <datagutt> Fixed
[16:25] <RavenII> Sweet Jesus... http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/126531-homemade-raspberry-pi-tablet-pipad-with-wood-finish-and-linux-os-will-set-your-sweet-tooth-tingling/gallery
[16:25] <datagutt> ping me in this channel if it happens again
[16:25] <RavenII> now THAT is a nice case
[16:25] <iobug> shiftplusone: thanks
[16:25] <Groggy> datagutt: Didn't know you were here (i.e. didn't mean to ping you, but it turned out good :))
[16:25] <datagutt> I have been here since the beginning of the channel
[16:25] <datagutt> I just don't write in here, ever
[16:26] <datagutt> And pinging is OK, i don't mind
[16:26] <shiftplusone> RavenII: nice
[16:27] <Groggy> ok, and now is the bot logging the channel again. But it seams like you have some investigation to do in order for it to reconnect (or well, the logs shows a reconnect but on the same time not
[16:28] * j12t (~j12t@c-107-3-142-14.hsd1.ca.comcast.net) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:28] <datagutt> The bot reconnects to the server, but it does not actually join the channel
[16:29] <datagutt> To fix this, i would have to dig into the pircbot code
[16:29] * Noldorin (~noldorin@unaffiliated/noldorin) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:29] <datagutt> there is probably a reconnect event for me to listen to
[16:30] <IT_Sean> there are a number of events that could likely be used to trigger a rejoin. Reconnected. MOTD receiived. etc...
[16:30] <Groggy> yeah, I guessed that was the case. Anyway, nice to see it online again (although I don't use it)
[16:30] <datagutt> I just haven't looked at it yet (3+ years and counting)
[16:30] <Groggy> way to go!
[16:30] <datagutt> i don't actually remember how to compile the java stuff
[16:30] <datagutt> I google it each time
[16:30] <IT_Sean> eeeeeeew. Java?
[16:30] <IT_Sean> gross.
[16:30] <datagutt> dude.
[16:31] <datagutt> I took some random code
[16:31] <datagutt> tweaked it
[16:31] <datagutt> then ran it and left it there
[16:31] <datagutt> then restart it occasionally
[16:31] <IT_Sean> still... java....
[16:31] * IT_Sean hoses the java stank off of datagutt with a firehose
[16:31] <datagutt> I don't like Java either
[16:32] * pewpau (~ginte@unaffiliated/ginte) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:32] <IT_Sean> I took a java class in college. Made me want to shoot the professor.
[16:32] <IT_Sean> java is teribad.
[16:32] * InfoTest (~Thunderbi@tgn.149.21.137.dts.mg) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:33] <datagutt> And that is why i haven't touched the code
[16:33] <IT_Sean> If every programming language is a tool, Java is a rusty screwdriver, bent at a 30 degree angle, with a broken handle.
[16:33] <datagutt> I made a node.js irc bot, which can easily log
[16:34] <datagutt> I guess this is not the time to mention my first irc bot, made in PHP?
[16:34] <datagutt> -.-
[16:34] <IT_Sean> (> <)
[16:35] <datagutt> I ran it from terminal though
[16:35] <datagutt> Because i couldn
[16:35] <datagutt> 't run it from a browser (yes i tried)
[16:35] <Groggy> But aren't the reason for the big usage of Java that it runs on everything and has always been "supported"?
[16:35] <datagutt> No wait, i think i was smart enough not to try that
[16:35] <IT_Sean> Groggy: the reason java is so popular is because people are retarded.
[16:35] * Rubafix (4f54141a@gateway/web/freenode/ip.79.84.20.26) Quit (Ping timeout: 246 seconds)
[16:35] * dreamon (~dreamon@unaffiliated/dreamon) Quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
[16:36] <IT_Sean> datagutt: to be clear, it's not you i'm being critical of. It's java.
[16:36] <datagutt> Yeah i understand
[16:36] <Groggy> might be true IT_Sean
[16:37] * jmadero (~joel@2602:306:313e:e340:a4dc:3047:28d:37fc) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:37] * iobug (~gustav@188-254-214-186.sf.ddns.bulsat.com) Quit (Quit: Leaving.)
[16:37] <datagutt> Anyways, i see the library Raspberrypibot is running has been forked and improved
[16:37] <datagutt> but the API is now totally incompatible
[16:38] * jmbarbier (~jmbarbier@ARouen-651-1-475-8.w92-132.abo.wanadoo.fr) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:40] <TheLostAdmin> I know there is an official Wifi dongle for the Pi (and a bunch that work reliably). Are there any Bluetooth options?
[16:40] * Bhaal (~bhaal@freenode/staff-emeritus/bhaal) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:41] <IT_Sean> Yes.
[16:41] * Karlton (~Karlton@unaffiliated/karlton) Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[16:41] * Gus_Smith (56599331@gateway/web/cgi-irc/kiwiirc.com/ip.86.89.147.49) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:43] * p71 (~chatzilla@75-128-224-180.dhcp.mrqt.mi.charter.com) Quit (Ping timeout: 272 seconds)
[16:43] * jmbarbier (~jmbarbier@ARouen-651-1-475-8.w92-132.abo.wanadoo.fr) Quit (Quit: My Mac has gone to sleep. ZZZzzz…)
[16:43] <TheLostAdmin> I think it would be pretty fun to make a tablet out of the Pi, the sense-hat, the new official screen, and some sort of battery pack option.
[16:43] <TheLostAdmin> Bluetooth would be very handy on such a device
[16:48] * j12t (~j12t@c-107-3-142-14.hsd1.ca.comcast.net) Quit (Ping timeout: 265 seconds)
[16:48] <shiftplusone> would be hard to get a nice form factor
[16:48] <IT_Sean> it would be quite thick, what with the hat and all.
[16:49] <TheLostAdmin> True. I was thinking of trying to lay the board beside each other and use ribbon cables. It would keep things (relatively) thin.
[16:49] <IT_Sean> I'd love to see a tablet made w/ the display, a custom board, and a compute module, though.
[16:49] <shiftplusone> well you can use a cable to mount the hat next to it rather than on top to make it a bit flatter
[16:49] <TheLostAdmin> s/board/boards/
[16:49] <TheLostAdmin> Oh, and the camera too.
[16:50] <TheLostAdmin> What's the point of a big tablet if you can't look as stupid as the folks with iPads taking picture on holiday?
[16:50] * Karlton (~Karlton@unaffiliated/karlton) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:51] * mibellil_ (~MiB@41.254.3.36.WiMAX.dynamic.ltt.ly) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:51] * Gus_Smith (56599331@gateway/web/cgi-irc/kiwiirc.com/ip.86.89.147.49) Quit (Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client)
[16:52] * fengling (~fengling@111.198.29.53) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:53] <TheLostAdmin> wow, it sure doesn't end up being a cheap option. About CAD$250.00 before the case and battery.
[16:54] <Fjorgynn> What's the biggest difference running Kodi under Raspbian vs. Openelec?
[16:54] <Corsac> is kodi again available on raspbian?
[16:55] <Corsac> I had the impression it wasn't available on the Jessie variant
[16:56] <shiftplusone> Corsac: it is
[16:57] * fengling (~fengling@111.198.29.53) Quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
[16:57] <shiftplusone> Fjorgynn: openelec is better looked after and has certain patches the raspbian version doesn't.
[16:57] <shiftplusone> I just occasionally steal Michael's kodi package and stick it in the raspberrypi.org repo
[16:57] <Fjorgynn> aha
[16:58] <Fjorgynn> yeah I installed kodi the other day
[16:59] <Corsac> yeah raspbian is more generic so less integrated I guess
[16:59] <Corsac> but on the other hand that's also a benefit in a way
[16:59] * mgottschlag (~quassel@reactos/tester/phoenix64) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:59] <Corsac> it'll be easier to do custom stuff on raspbian than on openelec
[17:00] * shantorn (~shantorn@67-5-219-248.ptld.qwest.net) has joined #raspberrypi

[17:01] <Fjorgynn> yeah
[17:02] <Fjorgynn> Corsac: I can't install vim on openelec :(
[17:02] <Corsac> btw is ipv6 somehow disabled on OpenELEC?
[17:02] <Fjorgynn> dunno
[17:02] * amigojapan (~amigojapa@unaffiliated/amigojapan) Quit (Quit: amigojapan)
[17:03] <Corsac> ha, because it's disabled by default on connman settings

[22:15] <Moonsilence> Hey! I just don't understand what I am doing wrong here. I wrote a simple infinite loop in python that prints to stdout. When typing 'python3 myloop.py' It can see all the messages appearing in the shell as expected. Then I tried 'python3 myloop.py >> file'. When I tail -f that file, it stays empty (0 bytes), nothing appears, until I ctrl-c the python process. Any ideas?

[22:21] <Moonsilence> pksato, yeah I just found that link too.. it worked. Thanks

[22:25] <jancoow> i need some kind of remote for controlling my quadcopter
[22:25] <jancoow> i could buy a regular remote
[22:25] <jancoow> but then i can't send any gps locations or other cool features
[22:25] <jancoow> And no video..
[22:26] <jancoow> you guys an idea what should be the best option?
[22:26] <pksato> I read lots about futaba controls.

[22:30] <jancoow> well maybe i want to many things:
[22:30] <jancoow> control the quadcopter (yaw, pitch, throttle)
[22:30] <jancoow> sending video towards control
[22:30] <jancoow> sending gps, gyro data towards control
[22:30] <jancoow> setting gps routers or something
[22:30] <jancoow> later support for camera control (gimball)
[22:31] <jancoow> i was looking at a xbee, and that range is fantastic and could send all the data i want (except video)

[22:35] <epinky> does the Ethernet card support mutlicast traffic?
[22:35] <hebnem> Hi -- I have a question about pi3d. I'm trying to overlap three .png files, loaded as textures, using the "2d_flat" shader. Where they overlap, I get black. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks
[22:35] <Corsac> stdout is line buffered while file are block buffered
[22:36] <Moonsilence> I see

[22:40] <gordonDrogon> anything in official debian that's not in Raspbian?
[22:40] <Moonsilence> This was exactly the problem I experieced: https://www.turnkeylinux.org/blog/unix-buffering
[22:42] <Dev0n> gordonDrogon, I think Raspbian is still only on wheezy
[22:42] <Corsac> there's raspbian Jessie, but I dont think that was the question
[22:43] <Corsac> I think he means running debian harmhf on rpi2
[22:43] <Corsac> Dev0n: I assume you already found http://sjoerd.luon.net/posts/2015/02/debian-jessie-on-rpi2/ ?
[22:44] <Dev0n> yea Corsac, already found that
[22:44] <Dev0n> looking at https://wiki.debian.org/ArmHardFloatPort at the moment
[22:45] <Dev0n> it's crazy how you can run a version of windows 10 on rpi2 (with ease from what it seems) and yet you're not easily able to run stock debian on it
[22:47] <epinky> could you tell if there's some driver that can support multicast for Raspberry Pi2?

[23:08] <SpeedEvil> In principle, the model A, or the model B if you remove the hub chip can do 'device mode' as I understand it.
[23:09] <SpeedEvil> But, I'm unsure if the software to support it is there.
