[11:29] <H__> reverse ssh tunnel ?
[11:31] <pksato> TeamViewer?
[11:31] <gordonDrogon> hsve it ssh out to a VPS, connect to the VPS and you're in.
[11:33] <bq> Heh, have done that many times
[11:33] <gordonDrogon> actually have it run a VPN to the VPS. e.g. vtun.
[11:34] <bq> I often reverse SSH tunnel into my lan. Actually managed to log into one machine over the VPS, forward VNC on that machine over that nested ssh connection, open a web browser, and boot another machine with the IPMI web interface
[11:35] <gordonDrogon> I just use a decent ISP who gives me a static IP address to my home/office connection,

[12:43] <Lartza> That just sounds dumb to my mind
[12:43] <Lartza> Not that we don't have overlapping taxes in Finland but
[12:43] <red9> So importing components. Assemble them in the UK and then export them puts you at disadvantage compared to do the same in say Ireland or France etc.
[12:44] <red9> Lartza, I don't blame politicians for being smart :P ;-)
[12:44] <Lartza> Well I mean it is kind of smart
[12:44] <Lartza> government gets more taxes, in theory
[12:44] <Lartza> :P
[12:44] <red9> in theory.. ;)

[12:46] <harshadkhedkar> Hi again!
[12:46] <harshadkhedkar> I was working on Raspberrypi 3.. I used to get hci-device register by runninng 'hciattach '
[12:46] <harshadkhedkar> but as now, from bluez-5.44 hciattach is deprecated, I was struggling to get hcidevice UP with btattach I ran btattach -B /dev/ttyAMA0 -P bcm device was up
[12:47] <harshadkhedkar> but the btattach output says : failed to write clock
[12:47] <harshadkhedkar> and hence, hciconfig hci0 up: fails... Can't init device hci0
[12:47] <red9> Lartza, increasing the tax to 200% .. gives 2x incomes.. promise! ;^)
[12:47] <harshadkhedkar> any idea?

[12:47] <Lartza> red9, Haha yeah, didn't quite work out so well for Sweden for instance
[12:48] <Lartza> Nordea, biggest financial service company in the nordic moved from Sweden to Finland after Sweden raised some stuff banks had to pay
[12:48] <Lartza> :D
[12:49] <Lartza> At the same time their CEO is finnish and wants to move to Sweden to have less inheritance tax, crazy world :D
[12:49] <red9> Well Swedish politicians tries currently to paint the expanding pig with increasingly more lipstick. Still nobody besides the brainwashed wants it. ;)
[12:51] <red9> harshadkhedkar, I would check google for "failed to write clock" "btattach"
[12:54] <BurtyB> red9, I go with continuous tracks tho I hardly ever use it these days
[12:54] <red9> Lartza, Let's just say one thing. Swedish state finances will risk implosion depending on whether some promises will be held or not. And screwing the paying and voting part. Might be bad..

[16:15] <localhorse> just ethernet cable
[16:15] * choki (~weechat@unaffiliated/choki) has joined #raspberrypi
[16:16] <GrandPa-G> you make up the net address range, use one of the internal ones. Then you decide what ip you want. As long as you don't go to interent, no one cares.
[16:16] <red9> 169-net is a shitthing only microsoft and apple mess with really.
[16:16] <red9> with static IP. You just set the address you have. Period.
[16:17] <red9> Beware of the correct IP and netmask.
[16:17] <localhorse> red9: do i also have to set a static ip on the pi for it?
[16:17] <darsie> localhorse: I guess you should edit /etc/network/interfaces or so.
[16:18] <localhorse> GrandPa-G: where should i set the address range? and which internal range should i use if not 169.* ?
[16:18] <red9> you said u had static ip. Your problem description seems incomplete.
[16:18] <localhorse> if both devices have a static ip, do i still need to run a dhcp service? or will it just work?
[16:18] <GrandPa-G> localhorse:google for address ranges. easily find. look up setting up static ip in linux
[16:18] <localhorse> red9: the device has a static ip
[16:19] <darsie> localhorse: With static IP you don't need dhcp, if you configure your devices.
[16:19] <red9> correct.
[16:19] <localhorse> so i have to configure the pi to have a static ip too, right?
[16:19] <darsie> But you could tell your DHCP to give them static IPs.
[16:19] <GrandPa-G> localhorse:I think it would be best to read up a bit on how networks work. Your questions are very basic
[16:19] <localhorse> GrandPa-G: here is a nonbasic question: how can i get the ip of the connected device without scanning?
[16:20] <localhorse> from the pi
[16:20] <darsie> localhorse: You could use 10.* or 192.168.*
[16:20] <red9> My guess based on your incomplete description. Is that you need to just enter static IP and netmask on both. And you eill be successful.
[16:21] <localhorse> the same netmask on both? 255.255.255.0 ?
[16:21] <GrandPa-G> GrandPa-G:once again, that is basic. what device is that on? makes a difference in command.
[16:21] <localhorse> GrandPa-G: rpi
[16:21] <GrandPa-G> red9:localhorse is all yours.
[16:21] <red9> ifconfig eth0 inet 192.168.0.1 netmask 0xffffff00

[16:25] <localhorse> will that insert the device into the pi's arp table?

[17:15] <sbef> now
[17:15] <sbef> i have some doubts
[17:15] <sbef> what should i do with it
[17:16] <sbef> eheheh
[17:16] <Lartza> Eat it?
[17:16] <sbef> so much cool things to do
[17:16] <GrandPa-G> make a wish on it?
[17:16] <sbef> dumbasses :P
[17:16] <sbef> and main question
[17:16] <sbef> linux or windows iot???
[17:16] <Lartza> wat
[17:17] <Lartza> That totally depends on what you want to do with it
[17:17] <sbef> i have a long experience with linux, but damn windows iot looks soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo coooooooooooooool
[17:17] <Lartza> It does?
[17:17] <Xenthys> I wouldn't try to install any version of Windows on a RPi tbh

[17:18] <GrandPa-G> Lartza:How true!
[17:18] <Lartza> It's a platform that allows you to develop .NET applications and deploy them on the Pi
[17:18] <Xenthys> I've just had enough of that system as a whole, I'd be lost without my zsh .-.
[17:19] <Xenthys> (I was mainly talking about Windows ARM, not the IoT platform)
[17:19] <Lartza> There is no windows arm for the rpi
[17:20] <sbef> oh so
[17:20] <sbef> you can't actually use it like i'd use raspbian eheh
[17:21] <Lartza> Correct
