[7:23] <Delta> based on that chart, which one is mine?
[7:24] <RoyK> or 256MB?
[7:25] <Delta> revision 000e
[7:25] <Delta> https://elinux.org/RPi_HardwareHistory
[7:25] <RoyK> run 'free'
[7:25] <Delta> says it is a Model B, rev 2
[7:25] <Delta> 378920 total
[7:25] * Buster (Buster@2001:470:1f0b:1639::2) has joined #raspberrypi
[7:26] <RoyK> ok, so the 512MB version
[7:26] <RoyK> the rest is allocated by the GPU
[7:26] <RoyK> 'rev' != 'version'/'generation'
[7:27] <Delta> icic
[7:27] <RoyK> Delta: what're you going to use it for?
[7:27] <Delta> data on my pi says 2011.12
[7:28] <Delta> well this guy has been running my dakboard for the past year
[7:28] <Delta> date*
[7:28] <Delta> and I swapped it with a pi zero and noticed a HUGEEE
[7:28] <Delta> increase in performance
[7:28] <Delta> so that got me suspicious that this wasn't a Model B as I thought iy was
[7:29] <RoyK> the pi zero isn't really *that* much faster than a pi1, though
[7:29] <RoyK> get a pi3+
[7:29] <Delta> it is significantly faster
[7:29] <Delta> noticibibly
[7:29] <Delta> and I have a pi3 but it doesn't work well for my applications since it requires a power supply with high current
[7:30] <RoyK> (which costs almost $10)
[7:31] <Delta> why do you want me to get new hardware when I already have something working? o.o
[7:31] <Delta> don't mean to sound hostile
[7:31] <Delta> I already have a pi3 btw
[7:31] <RoyK> anyway - you can get some neat heatsinks off ebay for a dollar or so - try that before overclocking the pi1
[7:31] <Delta> I don't plan on overclocking it
[7:31] <RoyK> or get them elsewhere - guess there are available in a local store somewhere
[7:32] <Delta> it serves it's purpose quite well
[7:32] <RoyK> ok
[7:32] <Delta> I just wanted to get the version of the Pi cleared up
[7:32] <RoyK> it's a pi1
[7:32] <Delta> yep. thanks!
[7:32] <RoyK> post a photo of it to verify ;)
[7:33] <RoyK> it should look something like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry_Pi#/media/File:Raspberry_Pi_-_Model_A.jpg, but with an ethernet plug
[7:33] <Delta> im pretty confident you are correct after seeing this http://www.raspberry-projects.com/pi/pi-hardware/raspberry-pi-pcb-versions
[7:33] <Delta> yep! that is what it looks like
[7:35] * RoyK got his first pi when it only had 256MB RAM - lots of fun :D

[12:21] <yang> Habbie: any idea about my networking ?
[12:21] <yang> why does it fail to bring up interfaces from /etc/network/interfaces
[12:21] <Habbie> yang, did you pastebin the relevant files somewhere?
[12:22] <yang> http://paste.debian.net/plain/1049387
[12:22] <Habbie> ok
[12:22] <yang> in KODI system settings - network interfaces it only shows the IP's of the DNS, but wont show the IP of eth0
[12:23] <Habbie> so is this raspbian or not?
[12:23] <yang> on the old original RPI the networking works
[12:23] <yang> raspbian stretch
[12:23] <Habbie> what is the output of 'ip a '?

[16:14] <das_j> Number 11, but BCM number is 17
[16:15] <gordonDrogon> ok. try this: gpio -g mode 17 out ; gpio -g write 17 1

[16:15] <gordonDrogon> riiight ... please don't use sysfs - it's deprecated.
[16:15] <das_j> What is not deprecated?
[16:16] <gordonDrogon> well - who knows right now, however lets just test the pin and make sure it works with something I know will work.

[18:20] <caoliver> I think that happens if SSH is enabled, but you still have the default password for the raspberrypi user.
[18:20] <Brodyis27> Well its because I set up a SSH connection. The exact message reads:
[18:20] <Brodyis27> SSH is enabled and the default password for the 'pi' user has not been changed.
[18:20] <Brodyis27> This is a security risk - please login as the 'pi' user and run Raspberry Pi Configuration to set a new password.
[18:21] <caoliver> Seems self explanatory.
[18:21] <Brodyis27> Yea, which I am going to change the password but I can't if I cant close the message
[18:21] <caoliver> If you can start a shell, you can use passwd to change it as well.
[18:22] <caoliver> Looks like you might want to try a different mouse/keyboard.
[18:22] <Brodyis27> I was thinking about trying a different one but it worked just fine before then once I restarted it, it stopped
[18:24] <caoliver> Is your power supply sufficient to deliver 5v at 2.5A?
[18:24] <caoliver> I think things would crash out if that wasn't the case.

[18:33] <bazul> is there a way to disable the power led of the rasp TV hat?
[18:33] <Lartza> Yes, but it's not under 5V
[18:33] <Lartza> The undervoltage trigger isn't even 5V

[18:33] <Lartza> And the Pi will seemingly operate below that threshold too, although with high probability of corruption etc, and then under that it will crash
[18:34] <caoliver> I think you know what I indended, and you just want to rub my nose in something. Please stop.
[18:34] <Brodyis27> Im back, sorry. So I tried another mouse/keyboard and it still didnt work. But, if I go to the recovery mode when it starts up, i can move my mouse around fine
[18:34] <Lartza> I'm not trying to rub anything, sorry if you see it that way
[18:35] <caoliver> It comes across as one-up-manship.
[18:35] <caoliver> There are cases where added USB devices can bring down a system. I remember this well with the first RasPis.
[18:36] <Lartza> But their system is not coming down, and crashing is not a reliable indicator for low voltage
